Is God Your Father?

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name" (Matthew 6:9).

The LORD's prayer is a module prayer given to us by Christ. And interestingly enough, the first sentence of that prayer starts with: Our Father, Which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. In this first sentence, we see that God as our holy Father is not earthly but heavenly. And the central purpose of Christ's first coming to earth who of course is not earthly but heavenly is to reconcile us to our heavenly Father and God: Creator of heaven and earth.

In the spiritual sense, a person can only be a living angel, a son of God or dead spirit that is a slave to sin and death. Often times when a Christian tries to convince an unbeliever that God is his or her Father, the unbeliever not only sees such notion as the height of arrogance but also as nothing short of blasphemy!

Although many are convinced that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is their God, when it comes to seeing God as Father, they adamantly reject such notion and insist they are merely slaves and never sons. To a genuine born again Christian, the idea of sonship is not a difficult idea to grasp at all but to an unbeliever who is convinced he or she is nothing but a slave, sonship and relationship with God is a complete mystery and baffling idea.

The fact of the matter is, Christianity is not a religious observation ideology concept. It is a belief centred on relationship with God our heavenly Father and Creator who by His special grace has made it possible for us to be sons unto Him through Christ and as sons in Christ, in line to inherit His eternal life kingdom.  Through Christ the only begotten Son of God, we acquired the right to call God 'Our Father'. And this right is only active in Christ.

It is therefore obvious to see why someone outside of Christ can only see his or herself as a slave only and not as a son of God. Sonship is not possible outside of Christ.  Therefore those that are outside of Christ and slaves to sin cannot claim a sonship right that they do not have. Sonship is what our relationship with God is about and slavery is all the devil is all about.  The transition from slavery to sonship will only occur when we believe the one thing the devil does not want any human being to believe, which is that Christ is in fact the only begotten Son of God. Only by this belief will a person have the right to see and call God his or her Father and be in line to inherit God's heavenly Estate for eternity.

Slavery is a terrible thing and it is not God's intention for creating Man. And if you are reading this today and all you see or consider yourself to be is a slave, then the question is, is God your God? The true God created Man in the likeness of His own image to be His sons and a partaker of His dominion authority (Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 8:14-17). But the devil who also wanted to be a god and desired to be worshipped by man deceived man to fall into sin (Genesis 3). Sin catapulted Man from sonship to slavery. And in slavery of sin, it is impossible to see God as Father because in sin, man became void of knowledge of His sonship to God.

Christ's soul purpose for His first coming is to restore us back to our rightful position and sonship identity with God. And by rejecting Christ you are in fact rejecting sonship and affirming yourself in slavery of sin. A slave does not have a right to anything and if all you see yourself to be is a slave then what you are in fact saying is that the true God is not your Father.

Every human being is a spirit being and every human being as a spirit being has a spiritual father. The question then is if God is not your spiritual Father then who is your spiritual father? The true answer to this question if you are not a believer of Christ according to Christ's own words will actually shock you!

John 8:42-44

"Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.

When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
