Who is LORD over you?
Blessing is something that is only possible for us to have in righteousness and not in sinfulness. Although many people desire to have the blessings of righteousness, they are unwilling to live a sin free righteous life. This is like saying you want to eat your cake and still have it. People get excited and shout a big 'Amen' when they hear those "you are blessed or will be blessed" prayers. But often times when the true message of repentance and righteousness is being preached, it is usually met with a stone cold reaction.
The fact is we cannot allow people's fleshy reactions or actions of disapproval towards our righteousness message change our commitment to preaching the righteous message we are mandated by God to preach or discourage us from continually preaching the Word of God undiluted. Whether or not we get a big "Amen', a big frown, few likes or no likes at all, we must continue to show true love towards sinners by preaching repentance and righteousness in every channel of communication to the glory of the Almighty God who is the first and final Judge of all matters.
God's righteousness revealed in the flesh is Christ Jesus (Jeremiah 23:5-6). And attaining righteousness through total surrendering of our life to Christ is what Christianity is all about. True Christianity is all about accepting Christ who is God's Righteousness revealed not just as Saviour only but as personal LORD. To say you have accepted Christ as LORD and Saviour is to say you are willing to totally submit all to His righteous Lordship, authority and dominion. Meaning ready to live a sin free life.
Unfortunately, there are several people in the end times Christian arena of today who although profess Christ to be their Saviour but continue to live a sinful life and worse of all, unwilling to yield their total members to His LORDSHIP. It is also not uncommon to hear such people justify their sinful lifestyle with a grace argument such as: God is gracious and He loves us regardless. The fact is, God indeed loves us and He indeed evidenced His love for us by sacrificing Christ His only begotten Son for us as propitiation for our sins. However, God's judgement for sin remains death (Romans 6:23). And God did not manifest His grace for us in form of Christ so we can make a mockery of His grace by continuing in sin. Instead, God expects us to repent from sinning and yield our entire members to Christ for the total transformation of our sinful nature to that of Christ's sinless nature who is His righteousness revealed in the flesh (Romans 6:23).
Christ is God in the flesh and as God in the flesh, complete evidence of God's love for us (John 1:1-14, 3:16). God as He manifested Himself through Christ is entirely holy and divine. And we cannot say we truly believe in Christ's divine nature of sinlessness and righteousness if we are unwilling to submit to His righteous Lordship and holy dominion. Justifying wilful continuation in sin by an argument of grace is in effect equivalent to saying: Although you are married to someone you profess loves you dearly, which you also claim to love dearly, it is perfectly okay for you to continue to have an adulterous relationship on the side with someone else you have vowed to never again have anything to do with.
Sin is a curse in the soul and to live in sin is to have an open gateway for the enemy to dominate the soul. And the only way one can shut down such gateway is by dying to self and choosing to live a sin free life in Christ.
Today we all need to examine ourselves and ask: Does my lifestyle evidence total submission to Christ's Lordship? Or am I just excited about the idea of Christ being a Saviour but completely unwilling in my heart to submit to His Lordship so I can be truly saved? We are all born sinners. And the only way we can avoid permanent consequence of sin which, is eternal death is by ending our journey here as saints still in Jesus Christ our personal LORD and Saviour.
We live in a world whereby those who are completely lost and spiritually dead and in need of salvation are daily busy trying to save one thing or the other. If it is not trees, it is some kind of animal. The fact however, is that the only one that can save man from wages of sin, which is eternal death damnation in hell is Christ Jesus (Acts 4:10-12). Christ as a Saviour is LORD and we cannot call Him Saviour yet refuse to submit to His Lordship. Christ is Saviour only to those who not only profess with their mouth that He is their personal Saviour but who also surrenders in their hearts to His Lordship dominion as the only true Saviour. And if we are truly in submission to His Lordship we will not make a mockery of grace by continuing in sinfulness. God is truly gracious but His judgement wrath for sinfulness remains death (Romans 6:23). Let us therefore truly seek to repent and stay repented for the kingdom of God is indeed at hand!
So, help us all LORD. Amen.
Romans 6:1-7
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin."
